Welcome to my first blog! I’m excited to share this journey with you. As a lifelong fan of sci-fi movies, I’ve always been captivated by the scenes where astronauts venture outside their spacecraft to repair or explore the unknown. If you’ve ever watched one of these movies, you’ve seen that nail-biting moment when the astronaut’s tether is too short to reach their destination, and despite repeated warnings from mission control, they decide to unclip and take the risk.
In many ways, our lives resemble this scenario. As beings created in God’s image, we are naturally driven to create, explore, and pioneer. This calling is woven into our very being and when we ignore it, there’s a sense of restlessness deep within us. I believe God has designed you with a unique purpose, but as we navigate that purpose, the distractions of the world can make it difficult to hear His guidance clearly—much like an astronaut struggling to hear mission control over the static.
Whether you’re building a business, raising a family or leading a team, the pressure to take shortcuts can be overwhelming. We’ve all been there—tempted to make decisions that might seem easier in the moment, but ultimately stray from what we know is right. It’s in those moments when we, like the astronaut, might unclip our tether, ignoring the warning from mission control and step out of alignment with God’s will for our lives.
In Galatians 5:16-18, Paul writes, “But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh…” This verse reminds us that the Holy Spirit is our “mission control.” No matter how unfamiliar or difficult our journey may seem, the Holy Spirit knows the way. He’s the one steering us through life’s challenges, guiding us to our destination with perfect wisdom.
King David serves as a great example of someone who stayed connected to God’s guidance. Despite being a talented king and a military leader, David consistently sought God’s counsel before making decisions—whether in battle or in life. His example teaches us that, no matter how capable we are, we should never disconnect from our Source. To grow our businesses, make wise financial decisions and raise children of character, we must daily choose to stay tethered to God—our “Ground Control”—the church, our “Spacecraft”, and the Holy Spirit, our “Mission Control.”
So take a moment to reflect: are there areas in your life where you’ve unbuckled your tether? Where have you ignored the voice of mission control? If you want to step boldly into the unknown, you must remain anchored in grace, trusting that God will guide you every step of the way.

What a profound way of teaching how to be anchored in Christ, demonstrating the vital role staying connected to Christ (abiding relationship with Him), His Church (provided support on our journey, the storehouse) and the Holy Spirit (our compass and conscience) plays in strengthening our walk with the Lord!
An inspiring read indeed!
Thank you so much, Shandré! I truly appreciate your thoughtful reflection. You’ve beautifully summarised the heart of the message—how staying anchored in Christ, His Church, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit equips us for life’s journey. It’s such an encouragement to know that the blog resonated with you. Let’s keep growing together in faith and strength as we remain tethered to His grace! 💛
A beautiful analogy of the astronaut and the walk of faith. The word of Gods says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, IN ALL YOUR WAYS, acknowledge Him and He shall make your paths straight. How relevant that is to acknowledging the “Mission Control” in our lives and how that can guide us to straight paths, in business, marriage, raising kids etc. I’ve personally unplugged from the tether and taken the risk, and when I hit a snag, I had nobody speaking in my “radio control”. Nobody giving directions, advice or simply just being there.
Walking with God our “Ground Control”, the Holy Spirit “Mission Control” in community – the local church our “Spacecraft” guarantees a life of peace, prosperity and much fruit. You’re literally never alone. Even though you step out of the “spaceship” to do a repair, and you don’t know what to do, simply because you’re tethered, help is guaranteed.
Love it!
Thank you, Bradley, for your insightful comment! I love how you connected the analogy of the astronaut to Proverbs 3:5-6. Your personal experience of unplugging from the tether and feeling the absence of “radio control” powerfully underscores the importance of staying anchored to God, the Holy Spirit, and the local church. It’s such an encouraging reminder that when we’re tethered, help is always guaranteed—even in the unknown. Thank you for sharing your perspective!
This literally came in perfect timing in my life♥️.
Thank you so much for this brother.
One thing that I think isn’t voiced enough is how difficult the journey of following Gods voice is in our lives.
So the easiest way out, always seems to be giving up.
And the reason why we want to give up I think is because of everything you mentioned.
How do we expect to fulfil our God giving destiny if we are tethered to God (the source of that destiny).
I can imagine that it could feel terrifying for the astronauts to be stepping out into the unknown, but having mission control can give them a sense of comfort stepping out.
You reminded me that the only way to conquer the fear of stepping out is having faith in Christ. Because His the one guiding me to the destination He predestined for me.
I’ll definitely have to reassess my personal relationship with God.
I gained so much value from this post.
Thank you so much, Michael, for sharing your thoughts and reflections. I deeply resonate with what you’ve said—stepping into the unknown can be incredibly intimidating. But as you highlighted, just like astronauts tethered to the spacecraft have the assurance of mission control guiding them, we can have the same assurance when we remain connected to God, our source.
You’ve made such a crucial point: without being tethered to Him, we risk losing the very connection that provides direction, strength, and comfort in the journey. Fear is a natural response when we step out into the unknown, but as you said, faith in Christ is the anchor that steadies us. He knows the destination He has predestined for us, and His voice will guide us every step of the way.
It’s so encouraging to hear that this analogy resonated with you and prompted you to reassess your personal relationship with God. That’s such a significant and courageous step. Trust that He’s drawing you closer even in this moment.
Thank you again for your kind words and for sharing how this post impacted you. Stay anchored to Him—you’re never alone on this journey of faith!
